How to Find the Mobility Test
On your pliability app tap on 'You'
Scroll down to locate Mobility section
Tap on 'Take a Mobility Test"
Who has access to it?
The software is available exclusively on iOS and iPadOS devices with A12 chips or later.
This includes: iPhone XS, iPhone 11, iPhone SE (2nd & 3rd gen), iPhone 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and up and latest models of iPads.
How does it work?
The test examines the entire kinetic chain rather than focusing on specific joints or ranges of motion (ROM), such as the hamstrings. It assesses how the body moves as a whole. The results identify any dysfunctions in specific movement patterns, so instead of attributing tight hamstrings as the issue, the results indicate movement dysfunctions in the hip, ankle, or other primary joints. Tight hamstrings (for example) may be a symptom, but not the underlying cause. The grayed out joints (elbows and knees) are considered secondary joints because they provide stability rather than mobility.
What do the Scores mean?
By giving yourself a mobility assessment you will know which areas of the body are lacking function. Once you assess and test your mobility you will be able to directly target and improve your weaker joint complexes.
The joint scores are NOT based on range of motion. They are mapped through dysfunction scores, ie knee valgus as a dysfunction would be mapped to the ankles, knee, hips, etc.
Areas you score low in, are areas you want to focus to improve on.
When is it coming to Android?
We don't have an ETA at the moment, it's a complex feature that requires significant processing and camera technology that Android doesn't have the capabilities for just yet. Android also currently does not support accurate skeletal tracking. We'll be working hard to offer it to Android once those capabilities become available! In the meantime, Android users can utilize the "Build Your Program" feature in the Pliability app to create customized routines targeting specific body areas and goals, providing an alternative approach to improving mobility.
